Fashion Scandinavia LFW AW13

Amongst the army of street style photographers at Somerset House on day 5 of LFW, i managed to get to the Fashion Scandinavia exhibition which i gained access to via Varg PR. The exhibition set out to gain recognition of Scandinavian designers onto the world scene. The Scandi look is known worldwide for its simple lines, plain details, utilitarian functionality and a monochrome colour palette; the most popular, Acne of course being a brand that is loved amongst the fashion crowd and beyond. The exhibition was a combination of known and unknown brands including Peter Jenson, Ganni, By Malene Birger, Dagmar, Freya Dalsjo, Elise Gug and Maska.

The Danish bar, was serving some delightful drinks, i couldn't resist a raspberry sparkling lemonade made with real raspberries by a danish man with a simple idea

Quilting, fur, leather, metallic, this brand was a winner for me.

Olive green was a colour seen on many Autumn/Winter catwalks, Ganni used the colour on a leather gilet, jumpers, t-shirts and a padded coat, which is already on my AW wish-list.

With an artistic and sculptural approach to fashion, her AW13 collection is inspired by the search for balance among continual contradictions, interminable confusion, ups and downs. Drawing on surrealism and futurism. The hat i spotted at the bottom of the clothes stand needs to be mine!

3.1 Phillip Lim AW13

He has done it again... For me the best collection at NYFW, full of sweaters, over-the-knee boots, leather, over-sized jackets and coats, mohair jumpers, layering and fur.

The models hair very natural, minimal make-up and dark, seductive lips. The looks accessorized with giant, ornate earrings, circular glasses and across the body bags.

The inspiration for his collection is said to be bikers, or more specifically bikers girlfriends, this was evident in the various combinations of leather jackets and waistcoats, sweatshirts and how can i forget the denim jumpsuit covered in badges. The colour scheme also followed suit with mainly blacks and hues of blue and grey, I am happy to see khaki back on the colour palette for AW13, a personal favourite. Recurring variations of brown are apparent throughout many AW13 collections; camel/biege/fawn/copper/bronze. The earthy tones are taking over.

A great show, i congratulate you Phillip.
